Hymn of the week - 07 - Help us to See!

The Hymn of the week is a bit late this week :)
This is a Tami's favourite, so i got the suggestion from her. This hymn describes the attributes of GOD that are very difficult to grasp with our human intellect alone.

O help us to see! is it possible that even after having GOD described in HIS majesty and power, we still lack the proper holy fear and awe of HIM?

Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
Most blessèd, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great Name we praise.

Is not the fruit of love aspiration after the holy? Elizabeth Prentiss

This evening I passed unavoidably through Miss ——'s room. She was reading Byron as usual and looked so wretched and restless, that I could not help yielding to a loving impulse and putting my hand on hers and asking why she was so sad.

She told me. It was just what I supposed. She is trying to be happy, and can not find out how; reads Byron and gets sickly views of life; sits up late dreaming about love and lovers; then, too tired to pray or think good thoughts, tosses herself down upon her bed and wishes herself dead. She did not tell me this, to be sure, but I gathered it from her story. I alluded to her religious history and present hopes.

She said she did not think continued acts of faith in Christ necessary; she had believed on Him once, and now He would save her whatever she did; and she was not going to torment herself trying to live so very holy a life, since, after all, she should get to heaven just as well through Him as if she had been particularly good (as she termed it).

I don't know whether a good or a bad spirit moved me at that minute, but I forgot that I was a mere child in religious knowledge, and talked about my doctrine and made it a very beautiful one to my mind, though I don't think she thought it so.

Oh, for what would I give up the happiness of praying for a holy heart—of striving, struggling for it! Yes, it is indeed true that we are to be saved simply, only, apart from our own goodness, through the love of Christ. But who can believe himself thus chosen of God—who can think of and hold communion with Infinite Holiness, and not long for the Divine image in his own soul? It is a mystery to me—these strange doctrines.
Is not the fruit of love aspiration after the holy? Is not the act of the new-born soul, when it passes from death unto life, that of desire for assimilation to and oneness with Him who is its all in all?

How can love and faith be one act and then cease?

One less day...

Have you realised that this morning you have another day in front of you??
It is brand new. Whatever you did yesterday ( though it might influence today); it is all past.
Today is a new day to be lived...
Well that was not the point I wanted to make...( as you can see from the title :).
Have you realised also that today you have one less day:

Hymn of the week - 06 Grace

Isn't that true that once you become a Christian you start to realise that GOD has been dealing with you much before you actually came to know Him? How many comforts, graces and blessings were bestowed on our infant hearts much before we could appreciate them!
When all Thy mercies, O my God,
my rising soul surveys,
transported with the view, I am lost
in wonder,love and praise.

Unnumbered comforts on my soul
Thy tender care bestowed,
before my infant heart conceived
from whom these comforts flowed.

Hymn of the week - 05 - LOVE

I believe being able to sing  praises to GOD is one of the gifts of His abounding grace. No wonder there are 150 Psalms in the Bible.:)
Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs describe spiritual experiences and growth, confirm doctrinal understanding and sometimes  are so " deep" that made one wonder for a rather longer period of time :).Many, many psalms and hymns have called my attention to "biblical concepts" that I understood very little about.
Nothing has left a greater impression on my mind than a sermon I listened to last summer. It was about love.
Is it possible that we have zeal for the things of the Almighty, for His service, and still be lacking love? I believe so, ( read 1 Corinthians 13 to confirm ).
If you love the LORD I am sure you will look at your love as so faint, so poor, so unworthy of Him who was hung between heaven and earth just because HE loved you and me.
You will understand that love is not a feeling or a burning passing sensation that occurs every time you hear His name spoken of. Love, truly, as described and demonstrated by our Lord, is a course of action. It is His will and not mine, His ways over my desires.O! that we could increase in such love!

If

If  I put my own happiness before the
well-being of the work  entrusted
to me;
if though I have this ministry and
have received much mercy,
I faint,
then I know nothing of Calvary love.

Theories Of Motivation....

Today, in college we were studying some theories of motivation. We looked at Maslow's Hierarchy of needs.
