What, Why, How, When? Part 2

In the last post we attempted to find what the given verses from the Bible had in common.( To go back to the Bible verses click here ).

I was thinking recently on how the Bible describes our Christian walk; out of pure curiosity I tried to find out what verses I knew from the Bible that talked about walking or walk.
I knew one who reads " from that time they walked with him no more ( reference to  Joh 6:66).
For we walk by faith and not by sight,... let us walk diligently,... now there is no condemnation for those that are in Christ, who walk not according to the flesh..., and so forth...

I never thought there was so many reference about a walk with God ( I had 65 verses down, if you read it ).

When young I always thought interesting the thought that Abraham was GOD's friend ( Isaiah 41:8), that Enoch walked with GOD (  Gen 5:24 ), but since I (and most of us) were raised hearing a gospel that is based on a once in a lifetime decision, ( more specifically a repeated prayer) , many of our generation do not understand what the Christian life looks like in practical daily  living. As a Child in my young years, I was conformed with a life of  "accomplishments for God", an impeccable Sunday apparel but a weekly living that lacked the understanding of this other way: GOD's way.

We seem (I did at least) to see the Christian life more or less like something static, boring and purposeless. We keep a set of rules and that's it, nothing else to be done... We compare ourselves with others and when we look a bit better that's great, forget GOD's absolute standards and holiness.

Many of us are not even aware of how much sinful we truly are...well, we do understand that Christ died once and for all for the sins of those who believe, but do we really understand the implications of it? Do we understand why the Invisible God had to slay his only Begotten Son, simply because Holiness cannot tolerate sin?

The gospel - that glorious gospel - is been reduced to: there is a hell ( lucky if you hear the word ) and when you are very, very old you might go there unless you repent and pray with me, but be sincere, otherwise I can't sign the back of your Bible...How often have you hear it that way?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I believe we sometimes spend most of our energies trying to do what we "believe to be right" in hopes that in doing so things will go well at least "look well". We really seem to forget that we are really hateful and undeserving and that we are hell-deserving every minute of our lives ( that is apart from Christ). We choose to completely ignore what the Bible says about GOD, His Holiness, and about our fallen condition. We go on living our lives trusting self, and forgetting that if the word of God doesn't shape every aspect of our lives we are truly running in vain.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So How do we go about the Christian life? What happens to one such that comes to know the truth?
He starts walking....and goes on walking...and walks more...and more and more...and at the last minute of his life what is he doing?

Walking...

How do we walk???

I confess I am really challenged by those verses, "walk in love, walk in truth, walk dilligently, walk not after the flesh, walk after His commandments, walk EVEN AS HE WALKED'...

are you not?

Suddenly we realise that  we are as evil as evil could be, we are lost and imprisoned by sin and the world and the devil, and one day this Mighty Warrior comes and rescues us, telling us there is this place where none of our present situation will ever happen again, there we will see light and taste goodness and abide forever in safety, and that only there we will finally  understand how dark the path really was...

what would you do???

I believe you would not only walk...you would run !!...the opposite direction ( that is, from the place of imprisonment).

We run, from sin, from the world and from the devil ...we listen carefully from the instructions of that Mighty Warrior and go our way ( rather HIS' way) never looking back...we take what He graciously gives us ( water, and provisions for the way, and an Armour to be protected from the difficulties of the way ) and again never look back...

Are you in this path?? Do you only see the Eternity ahead? Do you only see destruction behind? Are you casting down everything that is slowing you down from reaching forth to the Celestial City?

Have we realised that this is a serious business? that even after being made free from the dungeon of sin , we ought to walk the opposite direction?...
What a sad prospect that many are made alive and fit for this great walk, but will never that the pains to walk the Christian walk , sad indeed that many will even look back...

will you?
