Though the outward man...

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal;but the things which are not seen  are eternal. 
2 co 4:16-18


"The Christian's ultimate hope is for the resurrection body. But until we receive that gift, it is our inner being that is being strengthened by God's power. In a culture where so many people are desperate for good health , but not demonstrably hungry for the transformation of the inner being, Christians are in urgent need of following Paul's example and praying for display of God's power in the inner man. In short, Paul's primary concern is to pray for a display of God's mighty power in the domain of our being that controls our character and prepares us for heaven ".

 Por isso não desfalecemos; mas ainda que o nosso homem exterior se esteja consumindo, o interior, contudo, se renova de dia em dia. Porque a nossa leve e momentânea tribulação produz para nós cada vez mais abundantemente um eterno peso de glória; não atentando nós nas coisas que se vêem, mas sim nas que se não vêem; porque as que se vêem são temporais, enquanto as que se não vêem são eternas.

"A maior esperança cristã é a ressurreição do corpo. Mas até que recebamos esse dom, o nosso homem interior está sendo fortalecido pelo poder de Deus. Numa cultura em que as pessoas estão desesperadas para ter uma boa saúde, mas não  sedentos por uma transformação interior, os cristãos precisam urgentemente seguir o exemplo de Paulo e pedir a exibição do poder de Deus no homem interior. Em suma, a principal preocupação de Paulo é a oração pela exibição do grande poder de Deus no domínio do nosso ser que  ira controlar o nosso caráter e nos preparar para o céu. "
